Dear Holy Comforter community:
2011 has been, and still is, an exciting year for Holy Comforter. We have welcomed new clergy, new staff, and new members. We have seen existing ministries grow and new ministries start. We’ve dedicated beautiful new facilities to house and grow those ministries. We have continued to worship with spirit and beauty, innovate to meet the needs of God’s people, and serve our community and the world. With an even more exciting 2012 in mind, the Annual Giving Campaign will kick off this Sunday, October 30th.
Our theme this year is “Whole Giving: Head, Heart and Hands” with a subtitle of “Conversations About Giving - 2012.” Using the metaphor of head, heart, and hands, we will ensure that our church community understands how well we steward the resources committed for our use; we will share the ministries that strengthen us as Christians and serve our neighbors; and we will challenge each of us to grow as faithful and generous givers.
Our goal is “whole giving”
Whole Giving means giving from our head, hearts, and hands - our whole self. “Whole” also implies our whole community. Toward those ends, we have two goals:
· Commitment by the whole congregation
We believe that every member of Holy Comforter is important to God’s work in and through this place, and that every gift is valuable to the giver and to God’s Kingdom.
· $750,000 in pledge income
While a significant increase in giving from 2011, this goal remains below the pledged income for our church in 2008. This is a very intentional number. $750,000 in pledge income gives us the financial resources to be the special faith community that Holy Comforter is, and will continue to be. You might say it enables us to Claim Our Inheritance (Kevin’s sermon from July 17th – you can hear it online at www.holycomfortercharlotte.org).
Something that makes Holy Comforter a dynamic faith community is the consistent influx of new members and/or families. While not a measured goal, we will also be counting and celebrating “new” pledges.
A Whole Giving kick-off and Fall Celebration
In tune with the “kick-off” idea, we will begin our campaign with a festive, tailgate celebration on Sunday October 30, following the 10:30 a.m. service. There will be a chili cook-off, a pizza and wings van, a moon bounce and pumpkins for kids and more. We’ll also have the Panthers on the big screen. We strongly encourage you to be casual; wear your jeans and jerseys. We’ll have food, fellowship, and fun.
Conversations about “Whole Giving”
Our subtitle stresses the importance of “Conversations”. It is our sincere hope that we all engage in conversations about financial stewardship with each other, our families, ourselves and God throughout our brief campaign. During the two weeks following the kickoff, a church member will contact you to invite you into a conversation. They will have a giving packet to deliver to you during that conversation. The Forward in Faith capital campaign, which resulted in the new Van Every building and the renovation of many spaces in our original parish house, showed us the value of building connections through conversation. When you receive that call, please be as open and as flexible as possible for this important conversation.
Throughout the three-week time leading to our Annual Meeting on November 20, we will learn more about how we use the money committed, the “head;” how our Holy Comforter ministries form us as Christians to serve God’s Kingdom, “heart;” and challenge us to fearless, generous giving, “hands.”
Whole congregation gathers at Annual Meeting
The culmination of our Whole Giving annual giving campaign will be at our Annual Meeting at 9:30 a.m. on November 20. This is a gathering time for our WHOLE church family. With all members of our congregation worshipping at a parish-wide bilingual service following the meeting at 11 a.m., we will gather as disciples and deliver our financial pledge to God’s work at Holy Comforter.

El 2011 ha sido, y sigue siendo, un año muy emocionante para Holy Comforter. Le hemos dado la bienvenida a nuevos miembros del clero, empleados, y miembros. Hemos visto ministerios crecer y nuevos ministerios empezar. Hemos dedicado maravillosas instalaciones para alojar y crecer esos ministerios. Hemos continuando adorando con espíritu y belleza, innovando para llenar las necesidades de la gente de Dios, y servir a nuestra comunidad y el mundo. Con un 2012 todavía más emocionante en mente, la Campaña Anual de Donativos dará inicio este Domingo 30 de Octubre.
Nuestro tema este año es “Donativos de Todos: Mente, Corazón, y Manos” y el subtitulo de “Conversaciones de Donativos – 2012.” Usando la metáfora de mente, corazón, y manos, nos encargaremos de que nuestra comunidad parroquial entiende lo bien que usamos los recursos entregados para nuestro uso; compartiremos los ministerios que nos engrandecen como Cristianos y hacen servir a nuestros vecinos; y haremos un reto a cada uno de nosotros de crecer como fieles y generosos donadores.
Nuestra meta es “donativos de todos”
Los Donativos de Todos significa que daremos de nuestra mente, corazón, y manos – todo lo que somos. “Todos” también se refiere a toda la comunidad. Nuestras metas son dos:
· Compromiso de toda la congregación
Nosotros creemos que todo miembro de Holy Comforter es importante para el trabajo de Dios a través de este lugar, y que todo don es muy valioso para el que da y para el Reino de Dios.
· $750,000 en compromisos de ingresos
Aunque es un incremento significativo del 2011, esta meta se mantiene debajo de los compromiso de ingresos que nuestra iglesia tuvo el 2008. Es un numero muy intencional. $750,000 en compromisos de ingresos nos da los recursos financieros para ser una comunidad de fe especial como la es Holy Comforter, y lo seguirá siendo. Algo que hace Holy Comforter una comunidad de fe dinámica, es el constante flujo de nuevos miembros y/o familias. Aunque no es una meta mesurada, también celebraremos los nuevos compromisos.
Inicio de Donativos de Todos y la Celebración del Otoño
Siguiendo con la idea del inicio, como el inicio de un partido, empezaremos nuestra campaña con una fiesta el Domingo 30 de Octubre, después de la misa de las 10:30am. Tendremos un concurso de chili, un camión de pizzas y alitas de pollo, un brincolín, calabazas para los niños y mas. También tendremos el partido de las Panteras de Carolina en una pantalla gigante. Vengan vestidos cómodos. Tendremos diversión, comida, y convivio.
Conversaciones de Donativos
Nuestro subtitulo hace hincapié en la importancia de las “Conversaciones”. Es nuestra sincera esperanza que todos seamos parte de estas conversaciones con cada uno, nuestras familias, nosotros mismos y con Dios durante nuestra corta campaña. Durante las siguientes dos semanas después del inicio, un miembro de la iglesia se pondrá en contacto con usted para invitarlo a conversar. Ellos tendrán un paquete para dárselo durante la conversación. La campaña “Forward in Faith” (Avanzar en la fe), que resultó en el nuevo edificio Van Every y la renovación de muchos espacios en nuestra Iglesia, nos mostro el valor de crear conexiones por medio de la conversación. Cuando usted reciba esa llamada, por favor sea flexible tan como sea posible para que la conversación que es muy importante se lleve acabo.

Toda la congregación unidos en la Asamblea Anual
La culminación de nuestra campaña Donativos de Todos será durante nuestra Asamblea Anual a las 9:30 am el 20 de Noviembre. Este será un tiempo de reunión para TODA la familia parroquial con todos los miembros de nuestras congragaciones en una misa bilingüe a las 11am, después de la asamblea. Nos reuniremos como discípulos y daremos nuestro compromiso con el trabajo de Dios en Holy Comforter.
