All In For 2010: Transitions to a New Beginning

Transitioning to a New Beginning … a vibrant community in 2010 and beyond.

At Holy Comforter, growth and change are constant ways of life. In today’s uncertain economic environment, we are continually challenged to maintain our discipleship and expand our stewardship. As we approach 2010 as a vibrant and active faith community, we reflect on our rich history and look forward to the exciting times that lie ahead.
Here is a sampling of the abundance of God’s grace at Holy Comforter:
- Holy Comforter was a pioneer in 1917 with Boy Scout Troop No. 1
- In 1955 with the Weekday School
- And in 1957 with Loaves and Fishes.
- We continue to be pioneers in 2009 with Masse en Espanol, English as a Second Language classes and the Bilingual Preschool.
- What pioneering ministry is next?
Acolytes, the Adult Choir, the Gift Shop, the Hand Bell Choir, the Altar Guild, the Youth Ministry, the Men’s Ministry, the Stephen Ministry and countless other opportunities for Ministry and Fellowship are available within our Parish and our Community.
Our New Building.
The construction costs of the Parish Hall Addition and Renovation are funded from the Capital Campaign (which will still accept pledges), however, the funds to operate the expanded building and the programs within must come from the Annual Giving Campaign. This new building will enable our parish to reach out to our community in incredible ways as disciples and stewards.

Our parish is in the middle of not only our building transition, but is also eagerly awaiting the calling of our new rector and assistant. We are truly transitioning to new and exciting beginnings. The Annual Giving Campaign supports all Holy Comforter activities. - Do you ever equate your value as a person with what you earn?
- Is bill paying stressful for you?
- Has money ever been the source of an argument or misunderstanding with a loved one?
- Do you ever spend more time thinking about money in any one day than you do in prayer?
If you answeredYES to any of these questions:Read Luke 12: 13-34,
then ask:
then ask:
- What is Jesus inviting you to do?
- What change is Jesus inviting you to make in your attitudes about money and material possessions?
- How is Jesus inviting you to change the way you live in order to bring about a closer relationship with God?
Excerpt from Spirituality and Money: 7 Questions that Saved My Spiritual Life by Bruce Rockwell
2010 is a critical year for Holy Comforter
Why is 2010 so critical?
Pledged in:
2006: $673,058
2007: $729,405
2008: $761,743

2009: $652,656
Challenges to our 2010 Budget:
- New full-time Rector + Assistant salaries.
- A new building that will offer expanding programs and outreach in an economically challenging environment.
- HCEC members have generously supported a recent Capital Campaign, but 2010 operations of that building and its programs will depend on the Annual Giving Campaign.
